Garnett F. McHenry, 90, formerly of Jefferson, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, in Countryside Quality Care Convalescent Home Nursing Home, Mercer.

She was born March 1, 1924, in Sutton, W.Va., a daughter of the late George M. and Gertrude F. Perkey Bacorn.

Mrs. McHenry worked at the former Greenway Manufacturing Co. in Waynesburg and as a cashier at the former Davis’ Market in Dry Tavern. She lived most of her life in Jefferson, until she moved to Mercer in 2006. She loved the outdoors, horses and all animals. She spent most of her time beautifying her surroundings at “McHenry’s Smiling Acres” in Jefferson.

On May 31, 1947, she married, Gene C. McHenry, who died June 3, 1998.

Surviving are a niece and caregiver, Louella Stemple of Warren, Ohio; a nephew, Don Dreyer of Beaver Falls; a sister-in-law, Letha Bacorn of Warren, Ohio; and several other nieces and nephews.

Deceased are brothers Earl, Roy, Arley, Arnett and Jesse, and sisters Lenore, Pearl, Daisy and Oma.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, April 30, in Behm Funeral Home Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
