Chris Higbee returns to Greene County Fair
Country music fans from Greene County will be thrilled at the return of Chris Higbee, who will perform at the Greene County Fair at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 7.
The concert, sponsored by C&M Waste, is guaranteed to be as energetic and exciting as his past performances. Higbee is not only a singer and song-writer but an expert fiddle-player. His energetic presence and honed-fiddle playing skills are sure to charm everyone in the audience.
Higbee, continuing in his career as a solo artist after his band Poverty Neck Hillbillies disbanded, is touring extensively, playing as many as 150 shows a year. This summer, Higbee has played at venues across the east coast, making stops in New York, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, with the Greene County Fair coming up as the next stage in his tour.
In 2013, Higbee has released a self-titled album “Chris Higbee” with songs based on real-life events, such as the song, “Write to Me,” which was dedicated to his wife who served in the military. She was deployed immediately after the two were married. Similar to years past, spectators can expect to hear Higbee’s most popular hits, such as “Guilty as Charged,” “Fiddles Rock,” “Hillbillyology,” and “Wild and Crazy.”
In addition to touring local venues, Higbee is also currently working on a new album. Because he is responsible for recording his own music, which is a financially demanding responsibility, he is looking for backers to pledge money to help produce this new album. Depending on the amount pledged, fans are rewarded for their support with a plethora of prizes, varying from an advanced digital download of the album two weeks before its release (for a pledge of $15 or more) to an acoustic show with Higbee and a hangout with him before the show (for a pledge of $2,500 or more). The project needs to have $45,000 pledged by August 22, 2014 for the album to be funded. For those interested in contributing, his project can be found on kickstarter.com.
Fans of Higbee and fans of country music fans in general should take the time to see Higbee as he once again graces the Greene County Fair with his lively and unique brand of country music. His talents have been greatly appreciated in years past and are sure to entertain the crowds of Greene County once more.
