Mildred Elaine “Milly” Brown, 86, of Mather, and formerly of Carmichaels, died at 1:11 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 in her home.

She was born August 26, 1927 in Williamsport, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank E. Sechrist and Leona Blanche (Melluis) Krotzer.

Mrs. Brown was the loving mother of Mildred “Sue” Brown Minor, the late Vrillo “Sonny” Brown, Carol Brown Short, the late Grover “Joe” Newson, John L. Newson and the late Kim Wendy Newson; devoted grandmother to Carl “Scott” Brown, Timothy R. Brown, Joseph Brown, Carl L. Newson, Tina M. Newson, Valerie K. Newson, Maria L. Bebber, Felisha Newson Krug and James R. Newson; cherished sister of Francis Sechrist, Thelma W. Sechrist, Arnold E. “Barney” Sechrist, Frank E. “Duke” Sechrist, Jr. and Donald R. “Mert” Sechrist. She is greatly missed by 23 great grandchildren as well as many beloved great-great grandchildren.

For many years Milly has helped keep Carmichaels “humming along” through her good works at the food bank, her church, the senior center and numerous community projects. We will all be changed by the loss of her warm smile and generous heart.

Family and friends were welcomed from 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of service on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in the First Baptist Church, 775 South Eighty Eight Rd., Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. Charles H. Sowden will officiate.

All are invited to a graveside committal at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Glades Cemetery, Carmichaels.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, Carmichaels, Pa., 15320.
