Norma Stockdale
Norma Stockdale, 87, of Center Township, Greene County, died at 4:25 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, in her home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
She was born November 16, 1926, in Oak Forest, Center Township, a daughter of the late Russell Albert and Bessie Marie Orndoff Huffman.
She resided in the Oak Forest and Rogersville areas her entire life.
Mrs. Stockdale was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of Ladies of the Church and was an active volunteer during monthly community dinners for as long as her health permitted.
She worked in the cafeteria of West Greene High School prior to her retirement as a salesperson from the former Carol Lee Shop after 25 years.
Mrs. Stockdale was a member of Center Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, West Greene Senior Citizens, Harveys-Aleppo Grange 1444 and a former member of Moose Lodge 461, Waynesburg.
She enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting and bowling, as long as her health permitted.
On January 19, 1943, she married Harold Melvin Stockdale, who died January 2, 2014.
Mrs. Stockdale was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Marietta “Met” and husband Worthy Fox, and P. Darlene and husband Kevin Moore, all of Rogersville; two sons, Gary and wife Carol Stockdale and Larry Stockdale, all of Rogersville; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son and daughter, Jeffry Jay and Sue Ella Stockdale, both who died in infancy, and two sisters, Pearl Katchmark and Iva Henderson.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or services. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
