Benjamin “Bennie” Belski Jr.
Benjamin “Bennie” Belski Jr., 85, of Rices Landing, died Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1929, in Centerville, a son of the late Benjamin and Lucy Lahda Belski.
Mr. Belski was a 1947 graduate of Centerville High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, as a diesel engineer for 34 years, before retirement. Mr. Belski was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Rices Landing and formerly of St. Michael Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Fredericktown. He served the churches in several ways, as a Eucharistic minister, choir member, reader and adult server. He was also a member of American Legion Post 816 of Rices Landing.
On January 19, 1952, he married Theresa Sova, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald (Barbara) Belski of Allison Park and Thomas (Donna) Belski of Rices Landing; four grandchildren, Katy (Mark) Frey of Pittsburgh, Danna Belski of San Diego, Calif., Peter (Megan) Belski of Glenshaw and Ryan Belski of Rices Landing; two great-grandchildren, Laurel and Mark Frey; three sisters, Elizabeth Kapalko of Avon Lake, Ohio, Mary Ann (Frank) Andler of Low Hill and Patricia (John) Prekrel of Brownsville; and a sister-in-law, Donna Sweet of Washington.
Deceased is a brother, James Belski.
Uniontown Hospital and its fourth-floor doctors and staff provided wonderful and compassionate care to Mr. Belski.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, with Deacon Thomas Raymond officiating. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Rices Landing Fire Company or Amedisys Home Health, 2181 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461.
