R. Gene Headlee

R. Gene Headlee, 86, of Waynesburg, died at 6:37 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg.
He was born Saturday, May 26, 1928 in Garards Fort, a son of the late Russell E. Headlee and Edythe Strosnider Headlee.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg where he also attended sunday school and was a former member of the Greensboro Lions Club. Mr. Headlee was a graduate of Mapletown High School Class of 1946 and attended Waynesburg College for 2 years.
He was a self employed excavating contractor for most of his life. After retirement, he worked part time for Burns Drilling and Excavating in Wind Ridge.
His wife, Carrie Brewer Headlee, whom he married on August 6, 1949, survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Bonnie E. (Paul) Lindley of Scenery Hill, Barbara G. Headlee of Waynesburg, Leslie (Walt) Kelley of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Lila R. Headlee of Fredericktown, Lori (Scot) Martin of Orrtana, Pennsylvania, Jennifer (Bob) Kaylor of Monument, Colorado; one son, R. Jeff Headlee of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Johnson of Garards Fort, Jody Headlee of Washington D.C. and Carol Middleton of Austin, Texas; one brother, Thomas M. Headlee of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one brother, Wayne A. Headlee.
Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Greene Co. Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to The National Parkinson Foundation Western PA, 3468 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
