John Warren “Jack” Pohill
John Warren “Jack” Pohill, 66, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, formerly of Richeyville, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Brighton, Michigan, from complications of diabetes.
He was born September 17, 1948, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John S. and Lois L. Bachman Pohill.
After graduating from Bethlehem-Center High School in 1966, he entered the U.S. Navy serving as an air traffic controller. Following his military duty, he worked a short time for Jones & Laughlin mines.
Mr. Pohill attended Penn State University earning a mechanical engineering degree. Later, he attended California University of Pennsylvania earning a degree in industrial management.
He started his new career in automotive engineering with General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. His career took him and his family to Iowa City, Iowa, working for Sheller Globe Corp. While in Iowa, he earned a master’s degree in business administration from Iowa University. He moved on to Detroit, Mich., with his family, where he worked for Daimler-Chrysler for 14 years. During his time with Daimler-Chrysler, he co-designed three automotive components which received U.S. patents. His final job came as North American CEO of European electric automobile manufacturer Venturi.
Mr. Pohill returned to Michigan to retire and spend his days with his family.
On July 29, 1970, he married Jacqueline Renee Yeager, who died March 4, 2003.
Also deceased is a sister, Bonnie J. Jiles.
Surviving are three sons, Joshua (Sonya) Pohill of Williamston, Mich., and Jereme (Jennifer) Pohill and Justin (fiancée Tiarra) Pohill, both of Colorado; four brothers, David (MaryAnn) Pohill, Christopher (Tonya) Pohill, Jimmy Pohill, all of Richeyville, and Kenneth (Denise) Pohill of Kearneysville, W.Va.; beloved grandson, Zachary of Williamston; granddaughter Leona of Colorado; aunt Margie Peccon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held. A memorial service is being planned for the near future with final interment in Milford Memorial Cemetery; Milford, Mich.
