Lula H. Jones
Lula H. Jones, 92, of Waynesburg, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
She was born November 9, 1922, in Monongalia County, Jake’s Run, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Jacob Wesley and Savannah Ann Tennant.
Mrs. Jones resided in the Fairmont, West Virginia, area most of her life, prior to moving to Greene County, where she resided in the Rogersville and Waynesburg areas for the past 30 years.
She was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church and was a 1940 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, West Virginia.
Mrs. Jones was an expert sewer who enjoyed attending craft shows with her daughter and the time with her many friends. She was known affectionately as “Grandma Lu.”
On April 23, 1947, she married Wilbur Denzil Jones, who died October 25, 1958.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda Jane Jones, with whom she shared a home, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four sisters, Myrtle Olive Tennant, who died in infancy, Gladys Mae Wells, Gracie Ellen Tennant and Gaily Myrle Walters, and three brothers, Alpheus L., Lester E. and Kenneth Kyle “John” Tennant. She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, with the Rev. Bruce Judy officiating. Private interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Fairmont.
