Faye Grimes Hunnell

Faye Grimes Hunnell, 91, of Holbrook, went to her heavenly home at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, surrounded by her family, after being seriously ill for the past month.

She was born April 7, 1922, in Jackson Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Earl Bern and Rachel Jane Jones Stockdale.

Mrs. Hunnell resided in Jackson Township all her life.

She attended the former Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Bluff as a child, and was an active member and office holder at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church for the past several years.

Mrs. Hunnell attended the former Jackson Township Oak Shade Elementary School and, while residing with her uncle Frank Jones, attended the former Waynesburg High School.

She was a loving mother and homemaker, and was employed as a waitress at the former Myrtle’s Townhouse Restaurant in Waynesburg in the early 1960s. She served on the Jackson Township Election Board for several years.

On July 1, 1941, she married Halfred Byron Grimes, who died July 17, 1976. On August 8, 1983, she married Charles Lewis Hunnell, who died August 8, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, H. Terry, husband of Carlyn Grimes, and Charles Leroy (Bugsy), husband of Reneee Grimes, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Grimes, all of Holbrook; eight grandchildren, Kathy, wife of Steve Cummings, Lori Beth, wife of Sam Blaney, Autumn Grimes, companion of Eric Hoyt, Mark, husband of Janice Grimes, Jeffry, husband of Kimberley Grimes, Charles “Chip” Grimes, Ian, husband of Amanda Grimes, and Peter, husband of Lisa Grimes; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a stepson, Charles Hunnell of Oak Forest; and several nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates Mrs. Hunnell’s caregiver for the past year, Cindy Jones, and other recent caregivers, Patti, Amy, Joy and Dee.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, are a son, Roger Wayne Grimes, who died February 9, 2002; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Blaney; a brother, Wayne Stockdale; and two sisters, Violet Gilbert and Lavonna Lewis Loughman.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, with the Rev. Ben Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
