WU to hold distance running forum

The Waynesburg University 2014 Distance Running Forum will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, July 26, at the Goodwin Performing Arts Center on campus.

The free event will begin with high school training and preseason training, featuring instructor Jennifer McMichael of Ringgold, from noon to 1 p.m.

“Front Runner” training by the Waynesburg University staff will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

How to select the right shoe by Morgantown Running will be held from 1:45 to 2:10 p.m.

Available from 2:10 to 3:10 p.m. will be a choice of “Front Runner” simulated workout or Coaching — How to motivate student-athletes, featuring instructor Chris Hardie, the 2009 NCAA Mideast Track Assistant Coach of the Year.

After a break from 3:10 to 3:20 p.m., Running to Glorify God, featuring instructors John Dorean, author and pastor at Jefferson Baptist Church, and Mike Hasselbring, First Christian Church, will be held from 3:20 to 4:05 p.m. “Peaking” for the big race by the Waynesburg University staff will be held from 4:05 to 4:30 p.m.

The forum is geared to all levels of runners from high school to master’s level. High school coaches and runners will find it particularly helpful to prepare for the fall season.
