James Vargo
James Vargo, 80, of Streetsboro, Ohio, since 1962, went home while sleeping very peacefully at 3 a.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014.
He was born April 21, 1934, in Jefferson, a son of the late Michael and Angeline Vargo.
Mr. Vargo was a 1953 graduate of Cumberland Township High School.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On May 17, 1958, in the Church of Christ in Paisley, Ohio, he married Margaret “Peg” Rudolph, in a small, quiet evening service.
Mr. Vargo was honored to be father of six children, James Vargo II of Streetsboro, Timothy Vargo of Ravenna, Ohio, Kara Vargo of Ravenna, Tara Vargo of Streetsboro and Jill (1962-1975) and Kristopher (1986-1995) Vargo, already waiting for him at home, and enjoyed three grandchildren, Leeanne Vargo, Timothy Vargo and James Vargo.
He happily retired after working 35 years at Ford Stamping Plant, Walton Hills, Ohio, in May 1991.
Mr. Vargo enjoyed living a Christian life, his family, playing button box accordion music, old cars, gardening, making new friends from other places and his toy poodles, Lucy and Jenny.
In lieu of flowers, he would be greatly honored to have anyone who wishes to make a donation to Mid-Western Children’s Home, P.O. Box 48, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162, or Wounded Warriors Project.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the Church of Christ, 1386 Russell Drive, Streetsboro, with Ralph Price officiating. A private burial was held in Northlawn Memorial Gardens, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Arrangements and cremation were handled by Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel.
