Eight young ladies to compete in Riverfest Pageant
There will be eight young ladies vying for the titles of Petite Miss Riverfest, Junior Miss Riverfest, Teen Miss Riverfest and Miss Riverfest in their respective age divisions on Saturday, June 7 at the Jefferson Morgan High School Auditorium in Jefferson.
Doors will open at 1 p.m. and the pageant will begin at 2 p.m.
Admission to the event is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
The five- to seven-year-old contestants will compete for the Petite Miss Riverfest crown.
The Junior Miss Riverfest title is reserved for those between the ages of eight and 10.
Teen Miss Riverfest is for the 11- to 14-year-old contestants and Miss Riverfest 2014 is for the contestants ages 15 and up through their junior year in high school.
Contestants will compete in the following categories: photogenic, sportswear, talent and evening gown.
One queen will be awarded in each division.
The queens will receive a crown, sash, trophy, flowers and cash award. Runner-ups will each receive a trophy and flowers.
The panel of judges will be made up of dance teachers and former pageant queens from other festivals.
As title holder of the Miss Riverfest Pageant and a representative of the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department, the winning contestant will be required to attend both days of Riverfest 2014, the opening ceremony of Riverfest on Friday June 13 at 5 p.m. and attend Riverfest on Saturday June 14, for at least one hour.
She will also be required to attend the Jacktown Fair, the Coal Show parade, the Rices Landing Memorial Day ceremony and additional events to be determined by the committee.
The pageant director is Tori Adams.
The following contestants will compete:
Bailey Smith, 6, is the daughter of Carrie Strosnider and Jonathan Smith of Carmichaels.
Bailey will be performing a dance routine to “Cover Girl.”
Jersey Gianna Smith, 7, is the daughter of Daniel and Joey Lynn Smith of Carmichaels.
Jersey will be performing a dance routine to “Born to be Wild.”
Hannah Giles, 10, is the daughter of Gary and Rachelle Giles of Carmichaels.
Hannah will be performing an acrobatic routine to “Amazing Grace.”
Ainsley Grace Chadwick, 10, is the daughter of J. Eric Chadwick II M.D. and Lisa Chadwick of Carmichaels.
Ainsley will be performing a dance routine to “I’m a Brass Band.”
Payden Policz, 13, is the daughter of Richard Policz and Cheryl Spak of Waynesburg.
Payden will be performing an acrobatic routine to “Work of Art.”
Caitlyn Ricco, 14, is the daughter of Tom and Carrie Ricco of Carmichaels.
Caitlyn will be performing a dance routine to “I’ll Always Remember You.”
Erin Kline, 16, is the daughter of Bradley and Janette Kline of Rices Landing.
Erin is a vocalist and will be singing “A Change in Me.”
Baylee Ann Wydo, 16, is the daughter of Brandi and Ed Streit of Carmichaels and Chuck LaVerde of Graysville.
Baylee will be performing a jazz dance to “The Way You Make Me Feel.”
Riverfest will be held along the Lockwall in Rices Landing on June 13 from 4 p.m. until midnight, and June 14 from noon until midnight. The event will feature live music, children’s activities, food, fireworks and much more.
