Snyder unveils bill to clarify minors’ consent for health services
HARRISBURG — State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, said she has introduced a bill designed to clear up confusion surrounding when a minor’s consent is needed for mental health examinations and other health services.
“Changes made 10 years ago to the Minor Consent to Medical, Dental and Health Services Act created confusion among providers, minors and parents regarding the rights of each party under the law,” Snyder said. “My measure would provide flexibility to resolve the problems and apply the rules consistently.”
Snyder said her House Bill 2212 would authorize the state Department of Public Welfare to issue guidelines and adopt rules and regulations regarding minors’ consent to outpatient treatment and the special conditions making consent unnecessary.
HB Bill 2212 has been sent to the House Human Services Committee for consideration.
