Ira G. Rogers Sr.
Ira G. Rogers Sr., age 64, of Waynesburg died Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born May 25, 1949 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Clarence and Emma Marie Roupe Rogers.
On May 10, 1969 he married Grace O. Lemley Rogers who survives.
Mr. Rogers was a retired farmer. He had worked on the Frank and Lela Headlee farm in Kirby.
He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving six years in the United States Marine Corp. He also served for three years in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
He was a member of the Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church at Kirby. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, and was a life member of V.F.W. Post 4793.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Rhonda Grace Lewis of Carmichaels, Ira G. Rogers Jr. (Liz) of Tennessee, Roy David Rogers (April) of Tennessee, Jody Elizabeth Matthews (Joe) of Jefferson, Tanya Lynn Rogers of Waynesburg, and Taressa Casteel (Gary) of West Virginia; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Lyla Burgess of Alabama, Ruby Phillips of Waynesburg, and Judy Whately of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Carl Rogers and a grandson.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014 followed by interment in Claughton Chapel Cemetery in Kirby with graveside military honors by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.
