Jon Sanders, 61, of Spraggs, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at UPMC-Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born January 24, 1953, in Farmington, W.Va., a son of the late Frank Sanders and Irene Griffith Sanders.

Mr. Sanders was a retired coal miner, having worked at Federal 2 Mine of Miracle Run, which is now owned by Patriot Coal Co. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 31 in Fairmont, W.Va.

He was Methodist.

Surviving are a son, Timothy Sanders of Uniontown; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather Adams and husband Scott of Maidsville; a brother, Robert Sanders of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; his ex-wife, Susan Garlitz of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Perry Sanders Sr. and Tom Sanders.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Thursday, May 29, in Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, W.Va., with the Rev. Freddie Eddy II officiating.
