Roy Benjamin “Mike” Shoup, Jr.
Roy Benjamin “Mike” Shoup, Jr., 82, of Uniontown, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 9:44 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born Friday, June 12, 1931, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Roy B. Shoup, Sr. and Hazel Faye Baker Shoup.
Mr. Shoup lived his early life in Pennsylvania and in Florida from 1987 to 2010. He then lived in Uniontown from 2010 until his death.
Mr. Shoup was Baptist by faith. He was a graduate of Waynesburg High School, class of 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Force, having served from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He enjoyed all sports, especially bowling.
Mr. Shoup worked for 31 years for Columbia Gas Transmission Corp., first as a laborer and then for 16 years as gas controller, retiring December 1, 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Bevans Shoup, whom he married Saturday, April 29, 1961.
Deceased are a sister, Kathleen Faye Shoup, and a brother, James Charles Shoup, both of whom died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Friday, May 30, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, with Pastor Vince Cable officiating. Burial will be in North Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery, Amwell Township.
