Charles H. “Charlie” Andrew II
Charles H. “Charlie” Andrew II, 66, of Nineveh, died in his home at 1:20 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014, after battling a cancer related illness for the past 10 years.
He was born November 24, 1947, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Jesse Carter and Luella Percy Andrew.
He resided in Ohio for 17 years prior to returning to the Nineveh community, where he resided most of his life.
Mr. Andrew was a 1965 graduate of West Greene High School and a 1980 graduate of Texas State Farriers School in Mineral Wells, Texas.
He enjoyed life and a good joke and cultivated an open heart and mind with his many friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed traveling with his family throughout the United States, including Alaska, and much of Western Europe. He also enjoyed raising Boer goats, beekeeping, exploring nature and bird watching as a member of Ralph K. Bell Bird Club. Mr. Andrew was a former volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Presbyterian Church, following Hurricane Katrina.
He was a self-employed farmer, blacksmith, farrier and carpenter.
Mr. Andrew wished to remain in the home he built in 2001 until his death. Through the loving care of his wife and Hospice Nurses, that wish was made possible.
On September 3, 1966, he married Carol Ann Barney, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Charles Alan Andrew, companion of Vincent Proost; two daughters, Tammy, wife of Bryan Yukon, and Amy Sue Andrew; two grandchildren, Amber Yukon, wife of Norman Felmlee, and Matthew Yukon; a sister, Ada Lou “Dotty,” wife of Sam Hopkins; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Andrew; his extended family, mother-in-law Lillian Barney, brothers- and sisters-in-laws, Richard, husband of Linda Barney, Roland, husband of Colleen Barney, Sharon, wife of Roger Creech, Sandy, wife of Ernie Bedillion, and Bruce, husband of Lisa Barney; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Robert C. Andrew, who died July 25, 2013.
A gathering of friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, November 5, in Ryerson South Wheeling Baptist Church, Wind Ridge, with the Rev. Betty Voigt officiating. Refreshments and light snacks will be available following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
