David William Fordyce
David William “Bill” Fordyce, 92, of New Freeport, died Monday, November 24, 2014, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg.
He was born June 1, 1922, in Moundsville, W.Va., a son of the late William Fordyce and Ollie Spragg Fordyce.
Mr. Fordyce retired as a machinist from Penn Manufacturing Co., Washington. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He served as a medic and obtained the rank of staff sergeant.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane and husband Roy “Bob” Barnhart of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Robert Barnhart and wife Jill of Waynesburg, Dan Barnhart and wife Billie Jo of Carmichaels and Christina Harr and husband Brad of Fairmont, West Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jade, Brady and Josie Barnhart and Chase, Landon and Andrew Harr.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Betty Fordyce, who died October 1, 2013, and a half brother, Vance Fordyce.
Friends are welcome from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, W.Va., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ned.
