John Jett Summersgill
John Jett Summersgill, 58, of Lancaster, died Friday, October 10, 2014, in Lancaster General Hospital, in the company of his family after experiencing heart failure.
He was born November 1, 1955, in Waynesburg, a son of John G. Summersgill and the late Sally Hoy Summersgill.
Mr. Summersgill grew up in the Waynesburg area and settled in Lancaster in 1994.
He was a certified property appraiser who was employed by the city of Lancaster for several years before becoming a self-employed contractor. At the time of his death, he was working on a long-term project in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Mr. Summersgill was president of Commercial Travelers Association in Lancaster and a member of Pennsylvania Assessors Association.
Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Marliese “Liese” Higgins Summersgill; two sons, Scott (Grace Carroll) and Brian; a grandson, Noah John; his father, John; two brothers, Patrick (Jill) and Stuart; a sister, Stacy Lemley (Douglas); and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, October 14, in Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 East Roseville Road, Lancaster. Cremation will follow, with commitment private.
