Middle school football teams play Red Ribbon Week game
Next week is the Red Ribbon Drug & Alcohol Awareness week for a lot of the surrounding senior and junior high schools.
Red Ribbon Week began in the late 1980s and is a national movement of awareness and commitment to stand against drug and alcohol abuse.
Each school will have several activities, lessons and speakers talking about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. For more information about the Red Ribbon foundation, please visit www.redribbon.org.
One of the highlights of Red Ribbon Week for the Waynesburg Central and West Greene middle schools is the Red Ribbon Week game between both schools’ seventh- and eighth-grade football teams.
This year’s game will be on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Waynesburg University’s John F. Wiley Stadium. Kickoff for the game is at 1 p.m.
Both schools will bus their respective middle school students to the game, and the game will also be open to the public.
For more information about the game or Red Ribbon Week, please contact West Greene Middle School or Margaret Bell Miller Middle School.
