Carol Marie Avolio Torri

Carol Marie Avolio Torri, 74, of Waynesburg passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 23, 2014 surrounded by her family and best friend, Nancy Middleton.
She was born May 5, 1940 in Greensburg, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Edith Cercone Avolio.
She attended Jeannette High School, Seton Hill University, and Duquesne University.
On October 1, 1960 she married Capt. G. Robert Torri. U.S. Army, who passed away May 9, 2002. They were married for 42 years and had six children. She was an Army wife during the Vietnam War. Robert and Carol resided in Jeannette until relocating to Waynesburg in 1975. There, Mrs. Torri was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid traveler who visited over 25 countries. She was an accomplished cook and loving mother who also enjoyed reading, puzzle-building, and bird-watching.
Surviving are her children, Anna Morin and her husband Pete of Austin, TX, Thomas Torri and his wife Elena of Austin, TX, Timothy Torri of Waynesburg, Lisa Mascara of Washington, Michael Torri and his wife Andrea of Crown Point, IN, and Amy Torri of Austin, TX; 15 grandchildren, Justin, Laura, and Stephanie Morin, Barbara Myers, Samantha, Alexander, Sofia, and Olivia Torri, Kylie, Mariah, Jameson, and Samuel Mascara, Julia, Sarah, and Joshua Torri; six great-grandchildren; one brother Edmund Avolio of Suwanee, GA; and in-laws, Gary and Kathy Mumper, and Joyce Torri.
Deceased are a son-in-law, the Honorable Mark E. Mascara, a brother, Salvatore Avolio, and a brother-in-law, Ernest Torri.
As per her wishes, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 232 East High St., Waynesburg with Rev. J. Francis Frazier, celebrant, followed by inurnment in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Waynesburg. Arrangements are being handled by Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg.
