BUS TRIP – A bus trip to Ohio Amish Country (Berlin) will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4. Cost is $50, which includes a family-style dinner, coffee and doughnuts, and door prizes. HEROES RUN/WALK – Attend the Greene River Trail Heroes Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 20 in memory of the late U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Steven Phillips and U.S. Army Spc. Gregory Cox. The run/walk begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. at the Greene Cove Yacht Club in Millsboro. An entry fee of $20 is required. BRIDGE FESTIVAL – The 44th annual Covered Bridge Festival will be held Sept. 20-21 in Carmichaels and Garards Fort from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Check out these picturesque covered bridges at two locations in Greene County – the White Covered Bridge in Garards Fort and the Carmichaels Covered Bridge in Carmichaels. Crafters, Civil War re-enactments, music and home cooking are just some of the attractions at these two festivals.
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. VETERANS’ OUTREACH – The Greene County Veterans’ Affairs office will present a veterans’ outreach initiative at the Jefferson Senior Center on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Make an appointment or stop by to learn about services including: Pension, compensation disability, healthcare, life insurance, funeral and burial claims, and retroactive benefits. FREE DINNER – A community dinner will be held at Rogersville United Methodist Church (Social Hall) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will be creamed chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, dessert and beverage. ALAPCA EVENT – The National Alpaca Farm Days/Open House will be held Sept. 27-28 at Lippencott Alpacas in Waynesburg. Alpaca seminars, hand-spinning demonstrations and a variety of vendors including Thistlethwaite Vineyards will be on site. Children’s activities and hay rides will be available. Field parking and handicap accessible. The event will happen rain or shine. Bring a camera. The farm is located at 265 Meadowbrook Road (Waynesburg) near the village of Lippencott. SPAGHETTI DINNER – A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction will be held on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Dinner will be served from 1 to 4 p.m, Chinese Auction drawings will begin at 4 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under. There will be many good auction items.
