Francis G. Rafail
Francis G. Rafail, age 92, of Waynesburg, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg.
He was born September 28, 1921 in Connellsville, a son of the late Gestin and Hassoun Simon Rafail.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
On May 22, 1941 he married Jessie “Tubbie” Cervantes Rafail who died June 16, 1998.
Mr. Rafail was a retired electrician with Local 5 of I.B.E.W. in Pittsburgh. He was a former resident of Uniontown and lived in Waynesburg since 1950.
He was a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are three sons, John Rafail of St. Georges, Utah, Paul Rafail of Plymouth, Michigan, and Jude Rafail of Waynesburg; two daughters, Judy Giddens of Cochran, Georgia, and Gloria Cleveland of Vassar, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; 13great-grandchildren; one brother, Elias Rafail; and one sister, Betty Rafail both of Uniontown; and his loyal friends Dorothy Knight of Waynesburg and Ron Argent of Rutan.
Deceased are 3 brothers, Ray, Ferris, and George Rafail; and 3 sisters, Iona (Noonie) George, May Mitchell, and (Schmoonie) Mimi Rafail.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 3 in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg where a blessing service will be held at 8:30 on Saturday, October 4, 2014 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church 232 East High St., Waynesburg with Rev. J. Francis Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
