Carol L. Randolph
Carol L. Randolph, age 76, of Waynesburg, died on Friday, April 3, 2015.
She was born July 27, 1938 in Elm Grove, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harold and Cosette Bone.
She married James D. Randolph in 1959 and was graduated with honors from West Virginia University in 1960.
She served as choir director at the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg where she led as many as 6 choirs. She performed many folk music programs with her husband and sometimes directed the college touring choir, The Lamplighters.
She was founder of H.E.L.P. Inc. (Help Eliminate Local Pollution Inc.); an ecology organization that ran Greene County’s first recycling program and cleared junk cars from the area.
She was in business in Waynesburg for many years: She was a partner at the Greene County Craftsman located in downtown Waynesburg, a shop that sold arts and crafts made by hundreds of local artisans; and she owned Studio R where she sold her art and taught painting to many local artists. When she closed her studio, she continued to teach painting at the Greene Academy of Art in Carmichaels and at the McMurray Art League.
She was a member of the McMurray Art League and South Arts. She studied painting with many teachers from Cape Cod to Hawaii and taught internationally. She won many awards in art (oils, assemblages, and Chinese brush painting) and her art is held in private collections in the U.S., Canada and Europe. She hung many art shows for organizations and herself. She also wrote music and poetry.
Surviving are her husband, their son Bruce (Cathy), and his sons Aaron and Daniel and their son Todd and his son David. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her brother Kendall, and sister-in-law, Shirley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
