Robinson’s walk-off triple lifts Waynesburg to 3-2 win
Brandon Turcheck opened the bottom of the ninth inning Monday afternoon with a walk and then sped around the bases on Hunter Robinson’s triple to lift Waynesburg Central to a 3-2 Section 3-AA win over visiting Chartiers-Houston.
Turcheck fell behind 0-2, but worked losing pitcher Zach Southern for a lead-off walk before racing around the bases for the winning run on Robinson’s walk-off triple.
The Bucs (2-1, 2-3) scored a run in the top of the third inning, but the Raiders (3-2, 4-3) countered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Chartiers-Houston regained the lead with a single run in the top of the fourth.
Trey Rohanna’s single brought home the tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Raiders.
Terry Victor came on with one out and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth and struck out the Nos. 3 and 4 hitters to close out the threat.
Waynesburg Central (3-2, 4-3) travels to Beth-Center Wednesday afternoon, while Chartiers-Houston (2-1, 2-3) is on the road at Brownsville.
