Lady Raiders bring the bats in 17-7 win over Bentworth
Waynesburg Central pounded out 17 hits for a 17-7 Section 2-AA victory Tuesday afternoon over visiting Bentworth.
The Lady Bearcats (6-4, 8-6) put up six runs in the top of the first inning, but Courtney Yuhas came on in the second inning and held the visitors to just one run in the final four innings.
Autumn Zgorliski, Mikayla Stanley and Chase Watson all had doubles for Bentworth in the first inning.
Yuhas struck out one and walked one.
The Lady Raiders scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, three in the second two in the third, five in the fourth and six in the bottom of the fifth with the mercy rule called with two outs.
Tara Staley hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Taylor Staley went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Sidney Hare had four singles and drove in four runs. Gabby Rose was 4-for-4 with a double and three singles, driving in five runs.
Breanna Scott doubled and had two RBI.
