Monster Truck Jam to be featured for first time at Greene County Fair
WAYNESBURG – Cars crushed under the wheels of gigantic trucks will be one of the many sights fairgoers will witness this year at the Greene County Fair.
On Monday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m., Monster Truck Jam will be featured as the first event of its kind to hit the Greene County Fair.
According to Debbie Stephenson, Pennsylvania state director and secretary/treasurer of the Greene County Fair, the Monster Truck Jam will be an electrifying event for spectators as they watch giant monster trucks soar over a dirt ramp, overhead a series of four to five cars, to either make it across to the other ramp or to demolish the cars beneath.
Crowds can expect three different kinds of monster trucks, including one known as the Virginia Giant, to wreck havoc on anything that falls beneath their wheels.
Stephenson is expecting a big crowd for this first time event, as a Monster Truck Jam can’t be found anywhere else in Greene County, no matter what time of the year. Any other time, seeing a Monster Truck Jam like this would entail a battle with Pittsburgh traffic at the very least. But for one night only, these mammoth trucks can be found right in Waynesburg.
The Monster Truck Jam is sure to be an event that children and adults alike can enjoy and may prove to be popular enough to be featured again in the years to come.
“It’s a show you don’t want to miss,” Stephenson said. “It’s a great way to kick off the fair.”
