Mae A. Thomas Stanish, 84, of Beallsville, formerly of Bentleyville and Nemacolin, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.

She was born October 3, 1931, in Cokeburg Junction, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Smith Thomas.

For more than 15 years, Mrs. Stanish was employed as a sewing machine operator for Greenway Manufacturing in Nemacolin. She also worked as a self-employed hairdresser.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery and spending time with her family, especially her grandson Evan, who could make her smile even on her worst day.

Mrs. Stanish was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville, and a former member of Our Lady of Consolation Church, Nemacolin, and its Rosary Society.

On January 30, 1960, she married John Stanish Sr., who died September 25, 2010.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Thomas of Charleroi and John Stanish Jr. (Susie) of Burgettstown; two daughters, Deborah Shoop (Paul) of Beallsville, who lovingly cared for Mrs. Stanish in her home since 2010, and Brenda Kozy (Jeff) of Germantown, Marylandd; a stepdaughter, Betty Abbott (Jim) of Roscoe; and a sister, Margaret Hustava of Dunlevy.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are four brothers, William Thomas, Leroy “Dutch” Thomas, Guy Thomas and John Thomas; two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Helen Keegan; and a step-grandson, William McDuffie.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, December 3. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Luke Church Cemetery, Bentleyville.
