COUNTY CALENDAR
HOLIDAY PARTY – On Friday, Dec. 11, the Children’s and Family Literacy Departments at the Bowlby Library will be hosting a very special After Hours Holiday Pajama Party. Join the library from 4 to 8 p.m. for a viewing of a holiday movie; participants will also share warm cookies and milk, along with games, seasonal crafts and activities. Family members are invited and encouraged to attend. Don’t forget to wear your Christmas jammies. Call the library at 724-627-9776 to register.
LIBRARY EVENT – On Friday, Dec. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m., teens are invited to the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels for the Teen Gingerbread Competition, in which they will build their own holiday gingerbread creations at the library. There is no cost to compete and all materials will be supplied, including base, frosting and a variety of candy toppings. Supply donations are welcome. Registration requested by Monday, Dec. 7, to participate.
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville. Caller will be Dave Dahl. Cost is $5 per person or $8 per couple. Beginners are welcome, or just come and watch. Food and drinks will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. Benefits Center Twp. CHRISTMAS DINNER – A Community Christmas Dinner will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. at the Center Twp. Fire Hall in Rogersville. Meat, rolls and beverages will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Santa will visit. Call 724-499-5385 for additional info.
CRAFT BLAST – The annual Holiday Craft Blast will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Over 55 vendors from West Virginia, Maryland and Pa. will be displaying three rooms of a variety of handmade and manufactured items for last-minute shoppers. This event is sponsored by the Nathanael Greene CDC and members will be selling a variety of homemade soups and sandwiches in the lower level of the 4H Building. Raffle baskets will be available with a selection of items. One basket will have two tickets to a Pirate game next year.
HYMN SING – The Greene County Hymn sing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at Carmichaels United Methodist Church at 7 p.m.
SPECIAL SERVICE – The “Empty Chair” memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Waynesburg, which is located on the corner of N. Morris and W. Franklin Streets, with the Reverend Dr. Donald Wilson officiating.
