Joseph “Sonny” Celli
Joseph “Sonny” Celli, 79, of Greensboro, died unexpectedly at 10:55 p.m. on Friday, December 25, 2015 in his home.
He was born February 12, 1936 in Cumberland Township, Greene County, a son of the late Londo and Anna (Kubina) Celli.
Mr. Celli attended Cumberland Township Schools and resided in Cumberland Township most of his life. He served with the U. S. Army and worked as a commercial truck driver for many years before retiring in 1990.
Mr. Celli was a member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed reading his Bible and woodworking.
On September 7, 1957, he married Maxine M. Roberts, who survives
Also surviving are three sons, Lonnie K. Celli and his wife, Debbie, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Michael J. Celli and his wife, Chesti, of Morgantown, West Virginia and James Ira Celli and his companion, Ginger, of Greensboro; a daughter, Lisa M. Sumey and her husband, Bradley, of Smithfield; eight grandchildren, Michelle Varner and her husband, Josh, James I. Celli, Jr., Michael J. Celli, Adam Celli, Jesse J. Celli, Troy L. Celli, Wesley A. Sumey and Brandi F. Sumey; seven great grandchildren, Deontae, Shawnice, Maycala, Joshua, Brianna, Julianna and Liam and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are two brothers, John Celli and George E. Celli.
Family and friends were welcomed from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, where the funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. Pastor Carl Kibler will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, 168 Washington St., Jefferson, PA 15344-4117.
