Man arrested on warrant facing additional drug charges
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was arrested on numerous drug charges after deputies from the Greene County sheriff’s office found him to be in possession of 29 stamp bags of heroin while executing an arrest warrant.
Michael Ulrich, 24, was arraigned on Jan. 29 on one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates and placed in Greene County Prison in lieu of $20,000 straight bail.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies from the Greene County sheriff’s office were executing an arrest warrant at Ulrich’s residence on Morris Street in Waynesburg on Jan. 28 for failing to appear in court on unrelated drug charges; deputies requested and received assistance from Waynesburg Borough police in the execution of the warrant.
The deputies and police officers did not get an answer at the residence, but they received information from a neighbor that Ulrich often stays at the residence next door; they then went to the residence next door and while on the front porch observed a man inside later identified as Ulrich and then knocked on the door, the complaint states.
Ulrich answered the door and identified himself, and after being taken into custody for the initial arrest warrant Ulrich was found to be in possession of 29 stamp bags of suspected heroin, cash and various pieces of drug paraphernalia, including a syringe and a plastic bottle cap containing suspected heroin residue, the complaint states.
Deputies then transported Ulrich to Greene County Prison, according to court records.
On Jan. 29, deputies conducted a field test of the suspected heroin, which tested positive, the complaint states.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my deputies and the job they are doing,” Greene County Sheriff Brian Tennant said of the arrest.
Ulrich’s preliminary is scheduled to be held before Bates on Feb. 6.
