Police said Waynesburg man robbed while trying to sell drugs
State police said a Waynesburg man was allegedly robbed during a drug deal in Greene County.
Police said that while Drew Summersgill was not arrested for allegedly selling marijuana, one of the men who allegedly robbed him was arrested and a warrant has been issued for another man’s arrest.
Joshua Raymond Grimes and Austin Wiley, both of Waynesburg, and a man named “Jay” contacted Summersgill about buying some marijuana, the criminal complaint states.
Around midnight on Feb. 4, Grimes, Wiley and Jay drove to meet Summersgill on Wade Street in Franklin Township, the complaint states.
Police allege that during the drug transaction, Wiley and Jay took Summersgill by the neck from his vehicle, pointed a gun at him and stole his wallet, cell phone and car keys.
Summersgill was able to break free from the alleged assault and tried to run from the scene, but Wiley and Jay then tackled and allegedly beat him in the head and legs before they fled the scene, the complaint states.
Police allege that after Grimes was arrested on Feb. 4, he said Wiley, Jay and himself conspired to steal Summersgill’s marijuana after he had arranged the drug transaction.
Grimes, 19, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit theft, according to court documents.
Grimes was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson, who set bond at $15,000.
He was released on Feb. 5 on bond.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Wiley, 20, who has been charged with robbery, simple assault, theft, harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, according to court documents.
