Marian R. Swift
Marian R. Swift, age 83 of Nemacolin, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
She was born January 21, 1932 in Red Stone Township, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Harry N. and Eleanor R. (Blair) Nichols.
Mrs. Swift resided most of her life in Nemacolin. She worked for Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg. Mrs. Swift was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carmichaels where she was active in helping with the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 400, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 4391, both of Carmichaels, Slovak Club in Crucible and Citizen Club in Nemacolin.
Mrs. Swift enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
On June 30, 1951 she married Sanford K. Swift, Jr., who died November 25, 1967.
Also surviving is a son, Donald E. Swift and his wife, Lema of Orlando, Florida; three daughters, Deborah L. Sanner and her husband, Gene of Nemacolin, Jacki L. Halliday and her husband, James of Aurora, Ohio and Susan K. Kinstlich and her husband, Robert of Carmichaels; nine grandchildren, Brandon Wallace and his wife Terri, Nichole Wallace, Blair Thistlethwaite and his wife Sara, Jessica Fazio and her husband Dan, Adam Thistlethwaite and his wife Toni, Janelle Priester and her husband, Ben, and Javed, Rosanna, and Ejaz Barsati; five step grandchildren, Nikki Popielarcheck and her husband, John, Jenine Gollinger and her husband, Michael, David Sanner, Michelle Sanner and Gene Sanner, Jr. and his wife, Shannon; sisters, Janet E. Carnicom and her husband, Joe of Port Clinton, Ohio and Edie M. Lezaic and her husband, Sava of Warren, Ohio; sisters in law, Carolyn Nichols of Naples, Fla. and Kathryn Nichols of Warren, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a son Sanford K. Swift, III and three brothers, Gerald, Duane and Harold Nichols.
Family and friends were welcomed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. Funeral services took place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rebecca Dittenhafer officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. The ladies auxiliary held a service on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
