COUNTY CALENDAR
CLASS REGISTRATION – Westmoreland County Community College is now conducting registration for spring credit classes, which are scheduled to begin Thursday, Jan. 8. The spring semester features day, evening and Saturday classes, plus online courses held via the Internet. Enrollment is open to new and returning students as well as high school juniors and seniors who meet eligibility requirements. Traditional classroom-based courses are conducted at various locations, including the Greene County Center in Waynesburg. To enroll or view the class schedule, visit wccc.edu/spring.
TRANSFER DAY – Westmoreland County Community College will host a Transfer Day for students from other colleges Monday, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Youngwood Campus in Founders Hall, Room 130. This day is specifically designed for students who are looking to transfer into WCCC from another college/university. That day, students can apply to WCCC, have their transfer credits reviewed, take the placement assessment (if necessary) and schedule their classes for the spring semester which begins Jan. 8. BOOK CLUB – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library’s Book Club will meet on Monday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. The meeting will feature discussion on Terry Pratchett’s book titled “Dodger.” For more info, call the library at 724-627-9776.
DINNER THEATRE – Musical Mysteries & More and Thistlethwaite Vineyards will present “I Spy Five Spies,” an “Unusual Suspects” mystery caper, on Saturday, Jan. 31. QUILTERS AVAILABLE – The Waynesburg Community (Senior) Center quilters have openings for quilt tops to be quilted. If you have a quilt top and would like them to do it for you, contact Patty Tharp at the Center at 724-627-6366. The quilters raise money for the center by making quilts and all the quilting is done by hand the old-fashioned way.
