Man charged with threatening Cumberland Township police officers
A suspect is facing charges for allegedly threatening two Cumberland Township police officers.
Robert William Treece, 43, address unknown, was arrested after he allegedly called the township police department and made specific threats against two officers just after 2 p.m. on Jan. 3, state police said.
Treece was arraigned on misdemeanor terroristic threats and harassment charges by Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates and committed to the Greene County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 13 before Bates.
Court records show that Treece has faced charges on several occasions from township police dating to 2009 and charges from police departments dating to 2000.
The most recent cases involved an alleged protection from abuse order violation in August and an escape charge in June.
Township police Chief Craig Miller was listed as the arresting officer in both cases.
Treece was found guilty of one of eight summary charges filed against by township Patrolman Bryan Smith also in June.
Records indicate that Treece has lived in Nemacolin and Crucible in Greene County and in Washington and Westmoreland counties.
