Stonestreet to headline Rain Day

WAYNESBURG — Those who enjoy a variety of music from the last four decades will be in for a treat when Stonestreet, a top-40 band from Charleston, W.Va., takes to the main stage to wrap up a long day of good food and entertainment at this year’s Rain Day.
The band is a versatile group with outstanding vocal harmonies and high energy renditions of pop hits from every decade. Stonestreet performs a wide variety of music from the ’70s and ’80s,’90s and today, including popular hits from the Motown era, and today’s most requested top-40 dance hits.
The band has shared the stage with many national acts such as Michael McDonald, Sheena Easton, Paul Young, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Jefferson Starship, Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, Pebo Byson, Patti Austin and many others.
Stonestreet was co-founded in 1989 by Steve Fish and David Fitzwater, two of the five active members of the band. Fish plays bass guitar and performs backup vocals, while Fitzwater plays lead guitar and also helps out on backup vocals. Fitzwater also serves as the band’s manager.
Fish, the band’s musical/technical coordinator, has been playing music since he was 12 and has worked with various bands and musical groups throughout high school and college. Fitzwater has been playing guitar for more than 30 years.
Other members of the band are drummer Chris Blaze, who performed on Costa Cruise Lines before joining Stonestreet in early 2008; Kersey Mata, lead vocals, was born and raised in The Philippines.In addition to singing, he also plays keyboards and percussion; Sonya Lea, lead vocals, has been singing and performing her entire life. She won the Colgate Country Showdown and Southern West Virginia Idol vocal talent competitions. She joined the band in late 2007.
Stonestreet’s headlining performance on Rain Day will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the upper stage in front of the county courthouse.
