By For The Greene County Messenger 1 min read

Rachel Rohanna had a pair of double bogeys on her front nine in the first round of the PHC Classic Friday afternoon, but played pretty even on the remaining 16 holes to finish with a 5-over 77.

The Waynesburg Central graduate is sitting right on the projected cut entering today’s second round on Brown Deer Park Golf Course.

Rohanna was even-par on the first three holes, but had two double bogeys over the next three holes. She had a birdie and two pars in the last three holes of her front nine to go out in 3-over 39.

After making the turn with two pars, Rohanna went bogey-birdie-bogey to push her score to 4-over. She bogeyed her closing hole for her 5-over opening round.

Rohanna hit just 7-of-13 fairways and 11-of-18 greens in regulation. She needed 33 putts to complete her opening round and averaged 299 yards off the tee.

American Erica Popson leads after the first round with a 4-under 68.
