Flenniken Library announces upcoming events

The Flenniken Public Library, located at 102 East George St. in Carmichaels, announced the following upcoming events. For more information, call at the library at 724-966-5263.

n Book-a-Librarian: Working on a research paper? Have a burning question about technology? Need help updating your resume? Want to find out more about your family’s history? Or just not sure what book to read next? Book-a-Librarian. The library will pair you up with a knowledgeable library staff member to assist you based on your schedule. Call the library to schedule an appointment today.

n Teen Movie Monday: See teen movies based on popular young adult novels will be shown weekly every Monday through May afterschool. Popcorn will be provided. This month the library will be viewing Harry Potter movies 3, 4, and 5.

n Preschool and Toddler Classes: Preschool classes are held on Saturdays at 11 a.m with stories, songs and crafts. The Tuesday class is full. Perfect for ages 3-5 and their parents. Classes will run through May 16.

Toddler Time is taught on Fridays at 11 a.m. with stories, songs, and crafts. Perfect for toddlers up to 3 years old and their parents. Classes will run through May 15.

Mark your calendar for Summer Classes June 22 through the end of July.

Regular classes will begin again this fall starting Sept. 15.

n Book Club for Adults: The Book Club will discuss “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. Book Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Reserve your copy at www.waggin.org.

n Book Club Grades 3-5 Jeopardy Night: The library is getting ready for the Greene County Reading Competition. Grades 3-5 are welcome to join us Thursday, May 7 at 5 p.m. for a final Jeopardy Night to prep for the competition on May 12.

n Teen Game Night: Teens are invited to play board games, Wii, cards, role-playing games and more on Friday, May 8 at 3 p.m.

n Thirty One Bingo: Join Flenniken Library for Thirty One BINGO Party on Saturday, May 9 at 3 p.m. Just $10 to play five games and your chance to win a Thirty One Shopping Spree. It’s also Children’s Book Week. Increase your chances to win by donating new children’s books for the Greene County United Way’s annual “Stuff the Bus.”

n Greene County Author Talk: Join the library at the Arbors at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 to hear from the local author John Dorean. He will have copies of his books, “Murder in Greene,” “Witness in Greene” and “Justice in Greene” available at the event. Dorean will also be at the library on Thursday, May 14 at 6 p.m.

n Garden Club: The community gardening season is in full swing. Stop by for Garden Club the third Saturday of the Month at 11 a.m. on May 16.

n Free Online Classes: Gale Courses, free six-week online classes begin Wednesday, May 20. Includes topics such as accounting, grant writing, computer skills, web design and more.

n Library Closed: In honor of Memorial Day, the Library will be closed on Monday, May 25.
