Carmichaels opened Monday with a 7-1 win at Jefferson-Morgan and closed the day with a 13-1 loss against California in the completion of last week’s suspended game.

The Mikes (11-3) finish with a 7-3 section record and have a non-section game scheduled Thursday against McGuffey. The Rockets (6-9) finish with a 4-6 section record.

Josh Bogucki’s double spotted Carmichaels to a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat, and Michael Blasinsky’s double brought home two in the five-run top of the fourth. Bogucki added a run-scoring single in the inning.

Jacob Kinsell (5-1) went the distance for the win, allowing three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Gage Clark took the loss, striking out two and walking six.

The Trojans put up six runs in the top of the fifth inning in the completion of the suspended game to enact the mercy rule.

Garitt Woodburn allowed just one run in four innings of work for the win, striking out four.

California has now scored a team-record 224 runs and Louden Conte broke the individual record with 41 runs scored so far this season.
