Rohanna shoots 3-under again, trails leader by 2 strokes
Rachel Rohanna finished strong in Friday’s second round of the Symetra Classic, playing her back nine in 3-under 33 to stand alone in fifth place, just two strokes off the lead.
The Waynesburg Central graduate finished with the same score in the second round as she had in the first, 3-under 69, and trails American Haley Italia by two strokes heading into today’s final round.
Rohanna opened on the back nine Friday and went out in even-par 36, the same total as her first round. She carded three pars, three birdies and three bogeys.
And, as she did in Thursday’s first round, Rohanna played the front nine in 3-under. Rohanna made the turn with a bogey-5 on No. 1, but recovered quickly with a birdie-4 on No. 2.
After consecutive pars, Rohanna birdied three of her final five holes to play her back nine holes in 3-under.
She hit 10-of-14 fairways, needed 31 putts (compared to Thursday’s 29), and hit 16-of-18 greens in regulation.
Rohanna is in the next-to-last threesome with Canadian Augusta James and American Ani Gulugian. James is one of three golfers tied in second place at 7-under.
