Yellow Jackets have long, tough road trip

Case Western Reserve scored the first 35 points of the game Saturday, handing Waynesburg a 45-14 defeat in Presidents’ Athletic Conference action.

The Spartans improve to 4-0 in the conference and 5-0 overall, while the Yellow Jackets slip to 1-3 in the PAC and 2-4 overall.

Rob Cuda scored the first three touchdowns on runs of 5, 2 and 13 yards, and connected on touchdown passes to Bryan Erb and Brendan Lynch in the 35-point run.

Willie Leavell finally got into the end zone for Waynesburg with 39 seconds remaining in the first half on a 6-yard pass from Jake Dougherty.

Cuda had a third touchdown pass in the third quarter and Ben Carniol hit a 29-yard field goal to run the score to 45-7.

The Yellow Jackets’ Austin Wilson capped the scoring with 3:40 remaining in the game on a 54-yard run.

Cuda completed 25-of-28 passes for 268 yards and no interceptions. He also rushed for a game-high 63 yards. Erb was his favorite target with nine receptions for 106 yards.

Dougherty completed 16-of-31 passes for 104 yards and one interception. Kevin Barnes caught five passes for 72 yards.
