Flenniken Library announces upcoming events

The Flenniken Public Library, located at 102 East George Street in Carmichaels, recently announced the following upcoming events. For more information, call 724-966-5263 or visit the library’s website, www.flenniken.org.

n November Penny Harvest: Have a jar or two of random coins sitting around at home? Why not bring them into the library? Donate your “pennies for pages.” All monetary denominations welcome.

n Group Tickets to “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”: Reserve your group tickets to Little Lake Theatre’s performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 p.m. Based on the children’s book by Barbara Robinson. Tickets are $12.25 each and must be reserved by Friday, Nov. 13. Call the library to sign up.

n Preschool and Toddler Classes: Preschool classes are held on Tuesdays at 11 a.m with stories, songs and crafts. Perfect for ages 3 to 5 and their parents. Classes will run to Dec. 8. Toddler Time is taught on Fridays at 11 a.m. with stories, songs and crafts. Perfect for toddlers up to three years old and their parents. Classes will run to Dec. 11.

n Book Club for Adults: Book Club will discuss “Little Mercies” on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. Book Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Reserve your copy at www.waggin.org. November’s title is “The Christmas Quilt” by Jennifer Chiaverini.

n Drop-in Crafternoon: Drop in on Thursdays after school to craft with friends. The library will provide the supplies, you provide the creativity. Open to all ages. Nov. 5: Crazy Critter Lamps; Nov. 12: Decoupage Day; and Nov. 19: Turkey Crafts.

n PiYo & CIZE Live @ your Library: Prepare to stretch and sweat. Free fitness class Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Instructor is Ashley Donaldson. Bring your own yoga mat, sneakers, towel and water. Attendees will vote each session whether to do PiYo or CIZE. $5 donation per class requested, but not required. Call the library to sign up. The classes will be held Nov. 10, 17 and 24.

n The Library will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

n Teen Game Night: Teens are invited to play board games, Wii, cards, role-playing games and more on Friday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m.

n Free Online Classes: Gale Courses, free six-week online classes begin Wednesday, Nov. 18. Includes topics such as accounting, grant writing, computer skills, web design and more.

n International Games Day: Did you know that the library has a collection of board games, playing cards and a Wii gaming system? Drop in anytime on Saturday, Nov. 21.

n Health Insurance Enrollment FAQ: Centerville Clinics will be available 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, to answer questions about Health Insurance Enrollment under the Affordable Care Act. Call the library to set up an appointment.

n The library will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
