Clarksville man charged with possession of child pornography
A Greene County man was charged with possession of child pronography after a search warrant was executed last week.
State police said James Curtis Kovach, 66, of Clarksville allegedly sent an email from his phone to his email address in December 2014 containing child pornography. It was brought to the officer’s attention through a cyber tip from Microsoft.
The affidavit indicated that the image contained a naked female between the ages of 6 and 8 in a lewd manner.
According to court papers filed by Trooper Jay Hundertmark, police executed a search warrant at Kovach’s Sugar Lane home on Thursday. Kovach allegedly told officers that he thought all of the files depicting child pornography were saved on his LG cell phone in the bedroom, according to the affidavit.
Kovach also allegedly told officers that he was attempting to help police and unknown victims in regards to child ponography, but had never notified police, Hundertmark wrote.
Court papers also indicate that Kovach allegedly admitted to looking at child pornography containing females as young as 12 years old.
Police also seized Kovach’s cell phone and several computers in relation to the investigation.
Kovach was charged with two counts of disseminating photos of children in sexual acts, two counts of possession of child pornography and a single count of criminal use of a communication facility. He was placed in the Greene County Prison in lieu of $25,000 cash bail. He has since posted bail. He was scheduled to appear for his preliminary hearing Thursday.
