Lady Trojans open with triangular sweep
The California girls opened the Section 6-AA schedule Thursday afternoon at home by sweeping a triangular meet from West Greene (89-51) and Beth-Center (77-62).
The Lady Trojans’ Marissa Bitonti swept the throwing events, winning the javelin (113-8), shot put (26-5½), and discus (76-5).
Teammate Ashley McIntosh won two events, finishing first in the 300 intermediate hurdles (52.1) and triple jump (31-11½). Sammi Schwalb (100 high hurdles, 19.5), Annalise Gillespie (high jump, 4-10), and the 3,200 relay (11:40) also finished first.
Beth-Center’s Hannah Lacey swept the sprints, winning the 400 (1:03), 200 (28.23), and 100 (13.12). The Lady Bulldogs’ 400 relay won in 55.1 seconds and Emily Zellie finished first in the long jump (12-5).
The Lady Pioneers’ Rachel Jones finished first in the 1,600 with a time of 6:39 and Sarah Courtwright won 800 in 2:52.
