Mapletown wins first section game of season over Avella

Mapletown softball won its first Section 1-A game this season following a 15-2 victory on Saturday over Avella at Mapletown.

The Lady Maples (1-3, 2-6) were led by pitcher Abby McIntire, who had five strikeouts and one walk. She also singled.

Michaela Perry had two singles and an RBI for the Lady Maples. Teammates Taylor Vanata (1B, 2B, RBI), Makenzie Cree (3 singles, RBI), Sara Chory (3 singles, RBI) and Elise Clark (2 doubles, 2 RBIs) also contributed for Mapletown.

The home team’s Maddi Bogden had two singles and four RBIs.

Brooke Burchianti had two of the Lady Eagles’ four hits. Avella falls to 0-5 in section play and 0-6 overall.
