Mary C. Stay
Mary C. Stay, 87, of Fredericktown, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born September 15, 1929, in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Hal and Anna Callahan Crayne.
Mrs. Stay was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish in Fredericktown, where she was a member of Christian Mothers.
Mrs. Stay was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. She and her late husband spent many hours listening to games on the radio, including all of the spring training games.
On July 3, 1950, she married Albert J. Stay, who died August 15, 2003.
Surviving are five children, Albert Stay (Kathleen) of Low Hill, Terry Stay (Susan) of Bethel Park, Patrick Stay (Monica) of Vestaburg, Mary Stay Kipling (Warren) of Venetia and David Stay (Angela) of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren, Brian Stay, Rachel Popielarcheck, Tyler Stay, Kevin Stay, Gianna Stay, Sarah McKay, Allison Kipling, Emily Kipling, Matthew Stay, Christopher Stay and Jason Stay; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, Kevin M. Stay, who died August 5, 1975; a daughter, Deborah Stay LaBruno, who died September 14, 1996; a brother, Thomas Crayne; and a sister, Elizabeth Crayne.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Oliver Plunkett Church, Fredericktown, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
