COUNTY CALENDAR
DRIVERS NEEDED – The Veterans Affairs Office of Greene County is looking for part-time drivers for the van that transports the veterans to the Pittsburgh VAMC hospitals. The van travels four days a week, Mondays thru Thursdays, except on county holidays. You may be working only one or two days a week. Must not have following medical problems: diabetes, high blood pressure and hearing problems; and will need a background check with DUI checks. HOLIDAY CLOSINGS – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday, and will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31, and Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year holiday. The library will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas, and will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31, and Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s.
CENTER CLOSED – The PennDOT driver license and photo center will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.
HOLIDAY ESCAPE – A “Holiday Escape” will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mon View Skating Rink in Greensboro. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Free skating and food, games and prizes. Event is sponsored by the Greene County commissioners, Human Services Dept. and the Greene County MAGIC Collaborative, Family Stability Community Team. LIBRARY EVENT – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
CRAFT NIGHTS – The Bowlby Library’s monthly Adult Craft Night is held on the first Thursday of each month and the second Saturday each month. Seating is limited; call the library at 724-627-9776 to sign up or stop by the circulation desk.
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT – T.O.P.S. – Take Off Pounds Sensibly is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
FREE TUTORING – The Bowlby Library offers a free online tutoring database called Brainfuse. Brainfuse offers a comprehensive suite of online academic services designed to support many learning needs and styles. One-on-one online tutoring is available daily between 2 and 11 p.m. Brainfuse also offers a writing lab, study guides and skill building resources that are available 24/7. Online databases can be accessed using a library card at www.evakbowlby.org.
