Greene County trio advances in rifle tournament
Trinity’s Jessica Baker was perfect on Feb. 11 at the WPIAL Individual Rifle Championships hosted by the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club, scoring a 200-20x to win the gold medal.
A trio of Greene County girls finished in the top 15 to earn a berth into the state tournament.
Waynesburg Central’s Emily Ozohonish finished 10th wtih a score of 200-16x. She shot 100-9x in the first round and 100-7x in the final round.
Teammate Emilee Tuttle placed 13th, also with a score of 200-16x with the same order as Ozohonish shot.
West Greene’s Lexi Keller was 15th with a score of 200-15x, one of a number of shooters to finish with the score. Keller won the tiebreaker for the final medal spot.
Also finishing in the top 15 were Butler’s Brendan Levre, Woodland Hills’ Sarah Rodocker, Max Klemmer and Anthony Scaramouche, Hempfield’s Mason Kemerer, Steve Semekoski, Wyatt Thomas and Jordan Miller, Penn-Trafford’s Matt Lovre and Mt. Lebanon’s Nevan Long.
Rodocker, LeFevre, Miller and Klemmer also had perfect scores of 100-10x.
Woodland Hills won the team championship Feb. 9. Waynesburg Central finished fourth, losing out on third place by criteria.
