William M. “Red” Ruane
William M. “Red” Ruane, 77, of Carmichaels, died Friday, January 8, 2016, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 30, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a son of John and Sarah Conway Ruane.
Mr. Ruane was Catholic.
Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his service in the U.S. Navy, he was a salesman at United Plate Glass Co.
Years later, he graduated from Greene County Vo-Tech and became a certified nurse.
Mr. Ruane was employed by Canonsburg Hospital and Greenbrier Treatment Center as a nurse and driver throughout his career.
He enjoyed playing golf and loved jazz music, of which he collected thousands of tracks.
Mr. Ruane will be sadly missed by his friends and neighbors at Carmichaels Arbors.
Surviving are his best friend, Louise Cooley; four sons, William Ruane of Vandergrift, Michael Ruane of North Apollo, Jeffrey Ruane of East Vandergrift and Christopher Ruane of Sarver; four sisters, Ellen Ritter of Pittsburgh, Rosemary Parrish of Berlin, Md., Noreen Campbell of Clarion and Christine Brining of Verona; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, John Ruane; and two sisters, Sheila Zwahlen and Elizabeth Allen.
