FORMAL WEAR EVENT – Jefferson-Morgan High School will hold the first annual Formal Wear Events on Friday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 5m from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Buy great dresses at discounted prices. No charge for admission. Door prizes will be given away every hour. Basket rafflle tickets will be available for sale. CHILI COOK-OFF – The Greensboro Chili Cook-Off will be held Saturday, March 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the old Greensboro Fire Hall. Admission price is $5 for adults and $2 for children. VETERANS’ OUTREACH – The Greene County Veterans Affairs office will present a veterans’ outreach initiative at the Jefferson Senior Center on Wednesday, March 9, at 10 a.m. Make an appointment or stop by to learn about services, including Pension, compensation disability, healthcare, life insurance, funeral and burial claims and retroactive benefits. CLUB MEETING – Town & Country Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at the Hewitt Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing. The program is “Non-Point Sources Pollution” by Jared Zinn, watershed specialist for the Greene County Conservation District. Guests are welcome.
DANCE LESSONS – Learn to dance in the style of East Coast Swing, aka the Jitterbug, with instructor Rosemary. No partner is needed. Classes are being offered at the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. through March 21. Cost is $5 per class. Registration is required. Call 724-966-5263 to sign up.
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, March 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville. Caller will be Dave Dahl. Cost is $7 per adult, $10 per couple or $5 for youths ages 12-18. Beginners welcome, or just come and watch. CRAFT CLASSES – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg offers Creative Crafting for Adults classes every month. March’s project is a painted door/wall ornament. Cost of materials is $20 and is due at the time of registration; the next class will be held Saturday, March 12, at 10 a.m. Seating is limited, so register early by calling the library.
BENEFIT BREAKFAST – The John Humble Memorial Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. March 12 in the 4-H building at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The all-you-can-eat breakfast benefits Children’s Bible Ministries of SWPA.
HYMN SING – The Greene County Hymn Sing will be held on Sunday, March 13, at Oak View United Methodist Church in Waynesburg at 7 p.m.
YARD SALE – An indoor yard sale will be held at the fire hall on Saturday, March 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Table space is available for $10; food and drinks will be served, and donations of “sellable” items will be accepted. EGG HUNT – The third annual Nanny’s Team “Easter Egg Hunt for a Cure” will be held on Saturday, March 26, at Wana B Park in Carmichaels, beginning at 12 p.m. The egg hunt will begin at 1:30 p.m. This fundraiser benefits Greene County Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Nanny’s Team. Admission is $5 per child, no cost for adults. Admission includes the egg hunt (with prize eggs), a visit with the East Bunny, games, activities and face painting. There will be a Chinese Auction, a 50/50 drawing and many fun auction items, including toys and tickets/free admission to various fun family/children’s places. BENEFIT SHOOT – West Greene Class of 2017 will hold a benefit shoot on Saturday, April 9, at Split Rail Sporting Clays in Claysville. Proceeds will go to towards helping to cut the travel costs for more students to attend their 2017 senior class trip.
